How to Search for Items

  1. From the Home page or the Navigation Menu, enter the garage sale database by clicking the "Search Ads" or "GO!" link.
  2. Choose the region to search.
  3. Click on the "Power Search" link.
  4. Select the specific area you want to search, or leave blank to search all areas.
  5. Scroll down and under the "Sale Items" select the items you are searching for. Click the "Search for Matching Ads" button at the bottom of the page.
  6. View results.

How to search by item. Step 1

1) Enter the database. From the Home page click "GO!" or click on the "Search Ads" link in the navigation menu on the left side.

2) Select the region you want to search in.

Select Power Search

3) Click the "Power Search" link located under the top navigation bar.

Search variables include area, ad number, zip code and text of ad.

4A) Power Search allows you to search using many variables, some of the more helpful one include: Area, Ad Number, Address or Zip Code, Text of Ad, and most importantly by Item (see 4B below).

Search by item

4B) To search for a specific Item(s), scroll down the page until you see the Sale Item Categories. Click on the “+” symbol next to the category you want to view . Doing so allows you to see any subcategories or items that are within the master category (Clicking a "-" symbol will close that category). Continue searching through the categories and subcategories until you locate the item you want to find. Click the box next to that item. You can add additional items to your search or if you are done, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Search for Matching Ads” button. Any garage sale ads that have one or more of the items in your search will be displayed.

5A) A list of all garage sale ads that have at least one item listed will be displayed. To view the full contents of the ad, click on the "View" link on the far right.

5B) The complete ad shows the date, time and location of the garagesale. The ad also shows all of the items listed as being for sale, including the items that were searched for.
