How to Place an Ad
Each check box that is marked in the Sale Items master list when placing your ad counts as one item in the ad (regardless of the quantity listed). The more items checked off the master list, the less expensive your ad.

  1. (**Requires IE web browser) From the Home page or the Navigation Menu, enter the garage sale database.
  2. Click the "Place Ads" link.
  3. Select the area closest to the location of your sale.
  4. Log-in or create your account with ColumbusGarageSale.com. By creating your account you will be able to create, post, modify, delete or renew your ad.
  5. Carefully fill in the ad form. Remember, the more items you list the less you pay, and the more likely you will be to attract buyers who want what you are selling.
  6. Preview and then post your ad.

Step-by-step details on how to place your ad:

1) (**Requires IE web browser) Enter the database. From the Home page click "GO!" or click the "PLACE AD" link in the navigation bar.

2) On the top or bottom menu bar, click on the "Place Ads" link.

3) Click on the area that you think is closest to the location of your sale.

Register

4) Log-in or register a new account with ColumbusGarageSale.com. By registering you will be able to create, post, modify, delete or renew your ad.

5A) Start creating your ad. The top part of the ad will be carried over from your registration information. Username and e-mail are required. Visitors to the site will not be able to see your email address, but will be able to send you email through a blind email system. Only post your phone number if you want to allow visitors to call with questions.

5B) The middle part of the form starts with the location of your sale. Below that is the date and time of your sale. The last part is the description area where you can highlight the best deals you are offering. The fields with an (*) asterisk are required.

5C) List your items for sale. Click the “+” symbol next to a category to view sub categories or items. When you find an item that you are selling, check the box. Every checked box counts towards your total items listed. You can also add quantity and information about your item in the two optional fields.

If you can not find an item you have for sale, find the category where you think it should be listed and add it as a miscellaneous item. Each sub category has space for three miscellaneous items. Remember, the more items you list, the less expensive your ad.

Preview your ad

6A) Before previewing your ad, select the number of days you want your ad to run. You can also increase the visability of your ad and join the mailing list for the ColumbusGarageSale.com e-mail newsletter. Finally, click the "Preview My Ad" button at the bottom.

6B) After reviewing your ad, you can either post it, or modify it to fix any problems you might have found. If your ad has over 25 items you can post it for free. If it has less than 25 items, you will be sent to PayPal to make your payment. Once you have paid, you will be given a code that you need to copy and paste into the appropriate field in order to complete the posting of your ad.

7) Success! Your ad is now posted and available to visitors to this site. From this screen you can also upload up to three photos of items in your sale. Click on the "Browse" button to locate the images you want to upload.
